What connects all my work is a belief and practice that bringing people together to share knowledge and experience, collaborate and create and generate powerful change in both the individuals as well as the organisations and wider world. It can change mindsets, culture, relationships, processes and systems.

MY STORY

After training as a lawyer, I quickly realized that the conventional career path wasn't for me. I packed my bag and travelled to Zimbabwe and South Africa, volunteering in rural South African school in 1998. Since this time, I have worked across sectors and contexts around the world for the last 20 years as an academic, researcher, university teacher, facilitator and coach. I therefore bring a wide range of experience and understanding about how organisations, teams and people work.

As a consultant I have collaborated with international institutions and charities to lead the design and facilitation of multi-country and complex change processes involving large numbers of stakeholders. In the last 10 years my focus has been on supporting strategic development, developing programme and learning architecture and leadership development – each of these is founded on my design principles of participation and collaboration, knowledge exchange and dialogue, experiential adult learning and problem-solving.

I blend my experience of research, learning design, teaching, facilitation and coaching to provide a holistic and unique experience for people and organisations. My role is as a partner, collaborator and companion for communities and organisations, rather than a consultant going in with pre-set solutions or ideas. Together, we create the spaces and conditions that help people to reflect, ask questions, unearth their assumptions, explore new perspectives and generate new insights and pathways of action.

I have researched and lead collaborative action learning programmes with various organisations (Oxfam Novib, VSO, IOM, DFID) and founded Spaces of Change in 2015 to focus on furthering learning for social change. I am an experienced facilitator and qualified coach (2019) and have taken accredited training in Art of Hosting (2015), Theory U and ULab (2015, 2016, 2017), Action Learning (2015) and Civilian Peacekeeping (2002).

What About Away from Work ...

After years of balancing my career with personal responsibilities as a mother and carer, I have a heightened awareness of how life's imbalances can affect well-being, prompting me to prioritize self and well-being. I’ve shifted my focus towards personal growth and transformation, understanding that change begins within ourselves before it can extend to our communities.

I cherish the outdoors and seek solace in wide open spaces and in nature. I love exploring and adventure, travelling to remote places and learning more about people, culture  and places. Practicing yoga and swimming outdoors keep me balanced and I a happiest and feel free when in water. My dog is my companion for daily walks. Overall, I love people and relish the opportunity to connect over meals, conversations, and laughter.
